At the end of each year the IEEE Journal of Microwaves convenes a special committee that screens all the papers that have been published in the volume 2 year prior to the current. For example, at the end of 2026 we look at all the papers that were published in JMW from January-December of 2024. We then select two papers that we deem to be the most significant according to a range of criteria that can vary a bit from year to year. The two papers are then submitted to a second independent Awards Committee within the MTT Society, who then select one of these two papers for the “IEEE Journal of Microwaves Best Paper Prize” for the year in which the paper appeared in one of our issues. The winning authors (or a subset of them) are invited to the MTTS Awards Banquet and receive a plaque, a cash prize and travel reimbursement. The winners of our past Best Paper Prize are listed below with links to the papers on IEEEXplore which are all available to download and read free of charge. We heartily congradulate all these authors for excellent contributions to the microwave field.
