Broadening Participation Committee

A GLOBALLY INCLUSIVE MICROWAVE COMMUNITY

The Broadening Participation Committee (BPC) supports the development of a globally connected and collaborative environment across the RF, microwave, and terahertz communities. Through partnerships with universities, research institutions, industry professionals, IEEE volunteers, and emerging technology communities in under-developed regions, the committee works to expand opportunities for technical and professional engagement within the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S).

BPC initiatives are designed to connect students, researchers, educators, and professionals with valuable resources that support their academic and career development. These opportunities include mentoring activities, specialized technical training, professional development programs, workshops, webinars, networking opportunities, and direct interaction with experienced members and leaders of the MTT-S community.

A key focus of the committee is strengthening connections between local technical communities and the broader international MTT-S network. By supporting regional activities and encouraging collaboration among institutions, professionals, and volunteers, BPC helps create sustainable pathways for knowledge exchange, professional growth, and long-term participation in Society activities.

BPC will also work with other regions around the world needing MTT-S engagement. Currently selected regions include: Mongolia, New Zeland and parts of Australia. Other regions needing MTT-S BPC engagement are also being considered.

GLOBAL ONLINE 1:1 MENTORSHIP

The Mentor–Mentee Initiative of the IEEE MTT-S BPC Mentoring Subcommittee aims to foster meaningful technical and professional relationships that empower the next generation of microwave engineers.
