Initiative Working Groups

Initiative Working Groups

The Initiative Working Groups focus on specific technical initiatives established at the IEEE level, as well as emerging technological trends that are expected to shape the future. The group monitors the development and progress of these initiatives, facilitates collaboration among MTT-S Technical Committees (TCs) and other IEEE technical societies and councils, and organizes activities such as meetings, workshops, conferences, special conference sessions, publications, and educational programs. In addition, the working group identifies future technology directions and contributes to the development of technology roadmaps. More broadly, it promotes multidisciplinary participation by MTT-S, fosters collaboration with other IEEE societies and councils, and highlights the contributions of MTT-S to advancing technological innovation and development. The Initiative Working Groups are under the Future Direction Committee within the Technical Coordination and Future Direction Committee (TCFDC).

After the Initiative Working Group matures, it can be transitioned to a new TC, merged with an existing TC, or join the transition plan with the IEEE Initiate program. Currently, MTT-S has the following Working Groups:

  • AI and ML-Based Technology for Microwaves:
    • Co-chairs Costas Sarris (costas.sarris@utoronto.ca) and Q.J. Zhang (qjz@doe.carleton.ca)
