Device
Hybrid-Integrated K-/Ka-Band Phased Array Module With Dual-Polarized Shared Aperture for Full Duplex Function with 64 TX Elements and 32 RX Elements
Spectrum
K-/Ka Band, 19–20 GHz RX, 29–30 GHz TX for this proof of concept
Novelty
Self-diplexer transitions are designed into both the driver PCB and the front end PCB to provide the necessary TX-RX isolation for the beamformer. Interconnection lines and vertical signal transitions overcome the inherent nonalignment of the BF chips and the antenna. An aluminum dual-band rectangular waveguide feed network is an essential part of the focus on compactness and thermal design to accommodate the high packaging density of each 4x4 submodule.
Application
Next generation satellite communication applications.
Performance
<2.6 dB scan loss at 40° for TX, <2.1 dB scan loss at 40° RX 20.4 dBW EIRP P1dB per 64 TX elements, 21.8 dBW Psat -10.2 dB/K gain-to-noise (G/T) per 32 RX elements RX only, -12.2 dBK full duplex
