IEEE Microwave Magazine – August 2026

August 2026 Issue

The August issue of the IEEE Microwave Magazine is out! This is our yearly Breadth of MTT issue where we celebrate all the variety of research in our society. Everyone will get to learn something in this issue. And we have a great set of columns so you can stay updated on what is happening in the society as well as have some things to tickle your brain.

So check out the Editor’s Desk column to really learn about this issue. And then we have the President’s Column where he considers microwave engineering, our communication revolution, the energy challenge of AI and opportunities for innovation. It is amazing all the things connected to microwave engineering. Every year we celebrate our Graduate Student Fellowship Awards and our Education News gives us a look. There is so much going on in our society. Our MTT Society News column covers both our Wireless Communications committee activity and two inter-society technology panels at 2025 MAPCON. People are the heart of the IEEE and our Around the Globe column talks about bringing in the next generation and building bridges across Africa. We are international and the MGA News column helps show that with events in Kalady and Munnar. And for a column which includes food for thought and what is happening in the society check out our Women in Microwaves column discussing how to broaden participation and evolve engineering. Unfortunately our society is aging as well and in this issue our In Memoriam column celebrates the life of Fred Gardiol. Please read about his life. And to end on a high note we have more awards. Our Awards column is a list of our possible awards and a call to submit candidates.

We got our gray cells moving with the features and Women in Microwaves column so next should be the MicroBusiness column. It turns out there is a time for everything, a time to be patient and a time to move fast. I love books and our Book/Software Reviews column checks out an environmental approach to satellite remote sensing. And our Educator’s Corner is about cascaded LC resonators. Filters are so much fun for math geeks. But our Enigmas, etc. is also fun for math geeks and this month we solve last month’s L-pad problem.

Don’t forget to check out our Conference Calendar and join your friends at a live event.
