Device
Thinned, randomized 16x16 Ka-band TRX phased array utilizing commercially available 2x2 TRX SiGe beam-former chips.
Spectrum
27–29 GHz; applications up to 77 GHz are envisioned.
Novelty
One set of orthogonally randomized arrays are designed to null the high side lobes of another similar set of arrays on the panel to thin the array without sacrificing pattern fidelity.
Application
5G communications, automotive collision avoidance radar and imaging systems, aeronautical air-to-air due-regard radar and landing systems.
Performance
¼ to ½ fewer elements for the same fidelity of the patterns.
