Miniaturized Dual-Band Rectifying Metasurface for Wireless Power Transmission
Abstract
In this letter, a miniaturized dual-band rectifying metasurface for powering integrated devices is proposed. To expand the operating bandwidth, a novel Vivaldi exponential curve structure is designed, where mutual coupling between adjacent curved edges excites a wideband resonant mode, and an enclosing square frame generates an additional low-frequency resonance. The designed metasurface achieves an operational bandwidth of 2.4 and 5.5–6.6 GHz with a unit cell size of only 0.13λ , while maintaining over 90% capture efficiency under arbitrary polarization. Integration of the metasurface unit with rectifying diodes eliminates the need for traditional power-combining networks. A 5×5 array was fabricated and measured, achieving peak efficiencies of 64% at 2.4 GHz (12 dBm) and 59.6% at 5.5–6.6 GHz (16 dBm), demonstrating its significant potential for wireless power transmission (WPT) in integrated devices of the Internet of Things.
