CALL FOR PROPOSALS

2027 IEEE Microwave and Wireless Technology Letters (MWTL) Special Topic Issue

IEEE Microwave and Wireless Technology Letters (MWTL) invites proposals for Special Topic Issues for publication in 2027. MWTL particularly welcomes proposals addressing new and emerging areas, breakthrough technologies, high-impact research, and forward-looking directions with the potential to shape the future of microwave and wireless technology.

Areas of Interest

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Emerging microwave, millimeter-wave, sub-THz, and THz technologies
  • AI/ML-enabled microwave and wireless technologies and intelligent electromagnetic systems
  • 6G and beyond, integrated sensing and communications, and future wireless systems
  • Novel materials, metasurfaces, and reconfigurable and intelligent electromagnetic structures
  • Wireless power transfer, wireless power-and-data systems, and energy-aware wireless technologies
  • Microwave sensing, imaging, radar, and biomedical and medical applications
  • Advanced RF/microwave circuits, devices, packaging, integration, and manufacturing
  • Computational electromagnetics, quantum computing, and data-driven electromagnetic design
  • Interdisciplinary technologies connecting microwave engineering with medicine, biology, AI, materials, energy, and environmental and climate applications, among other emerging fields

Proposal Requirements

Proposals, limited to two pages, should briefly describe:

  1. Proposed issue title
  2. Scope
  3. Technical significance and expected impact
  4. Proposed Guest Editors
  5. Potential contributors or contributing research communities
  6. Anticipated submission and publication schedule

Proposed topics should be sufficiently focused to provide a distinctive, coherent theme, while remaining broad enough to attract high-quality submissions.

Forward-Looking and Interdisciplinary Research

MWTL particularly encourages proposals that bring together researchers across traditional disciplinary boundaries and address emerging technologies, applications, and research directions with the potential for significant scientific, technological, or societal impact. Proposals involving AI, medical and biomedical technologies, healthcare, communications, sensing, energy, and environmental and climate applications, along with other transformative technologies, are especially encouraged.

Key Dates

  • Proposal Submission Deadline: At least four months before the intended publication month
  • Notification of Selection: Within three weeks of proposal submission
  • Target Publication: Any month in 2027
