Device
Power-dividing transition from microstrip-line to two rectangular dielectric-filled waveguides.
Spectrum
85.1 – 110 GHz (W-band)
Novelty
The power dividing transition has a patch, a ridge waveguide magic-T (RWMT), three tapered ridge waveguides (TRWs), two dielectric-filled rectangular waveguides (RWGs), two tapered horns (THs), and a RWG.
A synthesis method is developed based an equivalent circuit model of the transition. The patch and magic-T coupling is optimized for low insertion loss and wide bandwidth.
Application
Rectangular dielectric waveguide (RDW) transitions for high speed data transmission.
Performance
0.49–1.5 dB insertion loss from 85.1–110 GHz; >10.6 dB isolation between the outputs; >11.2 dB input return loss; >10 dB output return loss.
