Biography
Riccardo Colella is an Assistant Professor at the Innovation Engineering Department of the University of Salento (Lecce, Italy) where he teaches RF Microelectronics. He received his Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering (with academic honors) from the University of Salento, in 2015. He earned his master’s degree (with honor) in Telecommunications Engineering from the same University, in 2010.
His professional and academic background is in the fields of RF engineering, wireless communications, and printed electronics, including the design of radios and antennas for HF/UHF RFID and IoT.
He serves as Associate Editor of international journals, including IET Microwaves Antennas and Propagation and IEEE Journal of Radio Frequency Identification. Currently, he is Registration Chair of the IEEE RFID 2022, Special Sessions Chair of the IEEE RFID-TA 2022, Publication Chair of the MMS 2022, and a member of the TPRC of IEEE IMS 2022.
He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, a member of the IEEE MTT-20 TC, a member of the IEEE TC-AMES, a member of the EuMA, and a member of the SIEm (Italian Society of Electromagnetism).
He has been awarded with the prize “Best Italian Thesis on ICT” assigned by CNIT and AICA, in 2011. He has been awarded with the IEEE MTT-S C-S Italy Award, in 2013, and with the “Giorgio Barzilai” award, in 2016. He received the international scientific award “URSI YSA Award”, in 2018.
He authored more than 120 publications on International Journals and Conference Proceedings, and two Chapter Books with international diffusion. He holds a patent.
