Childcare Support at EuCAP 2025! A Much-Needed Initiative

One of the key discussions around involving more women in the field of RF and microwave engineering revolves around the difficulties they often face in balancing family responsibilities with professional growth. Too often, they are forced to choose one over the other—a choice that should not exist. This was the central theme of my recent conversation with Dr. Goutam Chattopadhyay, 2025 IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S) president, on the sidelines at the 19th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2025) in Sweden.

The childcare service at EuCAP 2025 was a noteworthy initiative organized by the local conference committee in collaboration with the European Association on Antennas and Propagation Working Group (WG) on Women in Antennas and Propagation (WiAP). Key contributors to this effort included Pilar Castillo-Tapia (local WiAP chair), Agnese Mazzinghi (vice chair), and Francesca Vipiana (chair of the WiAP WG).
