IEEE APS MTTS RFID Student Joint Chapter Escuela Politécnica Nacional: Inspiring Microwaves and Innovation From the Andes
This month, we are featuring another very active student chapter in Region 9: the first and only MTT-S Chapter in Ecuador!
In January 2025, the Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN) in Quito, Ecuador, became home to a new wave of enthusiasm for microwaves, antennas, and wireless systems with the inauguration of the IEEE AP-S/MTT-S/RFID Joint Chapter, the first and only MTT-S Chapter in Ecuador. Despite its young age, the Chapter has quickly become one of the most active units in Region 9, combining academic excellence, community engagement, and hands-on engineering.
Since its establishment, the EPN Chapter has united over 30 active members from undergraduate and graduate programs in the Electrical and Electronics Faculty of the University, guided by a team of passionate student leaders and a faculty advisor. Their mission is simple yet powerful: to connect theory and experimentation, while building bridges between disciplines and generations of engineers in Ecuador.
