October 2025 Issue
The October issue of the IEEE Microwave Magazine is out. This issue has something for everyone- trust me. And we have a great set of columns. As always check out the Editor’s Desk for the details on this issue but for now we will try to draw you in with some insights.
Our features and application note are over the top in this issue. For the futurist we have a feature on superconductor quantum systems. For the PA designers out there we have a feature on GaN ultra wide band power amplifiers. For the traditionalists we have a feature on true time delay beam forming versus phase shifter based techniques. And we are seeing more and more medical applications of microwaves which makes our application note based on medical scanning relevant to all.
The columns really help our members keep up with what is happening in the world of IEEE microwaves. My second stop is the President’s Column. This column focuses on our publications and pioneers. I joined the MTT in part for the publications and in part for getting to associate with the innovators in this fascinating field. Speaking of innovators, check out the Women in Microwaves column and their special session at the IEEE International Wireless Symposium in China. Another important group in our society is the Young Professionals. This month’s column comes from Algeria. Our society has so much going on. And we have inter-society panels and events. The inter-society panels at IMS 2025 and IMBioC 2025 are discussed in our MTT-S Society News column. We never forget that education is paramount. There is an IEEE Distinguished Instructor Workshop program discussed in our MGA News column. One of our new columns is the Featured MTT-S Chapters and in this month’s column we discuss how the Hong Kong chapter is driving innovation.
Just like our features we have some columns that make us think. I encourage you to read this month’s MicroBusiness column. It covers two of the most critical aspects of introducing a product and running a business. And I am not going to tell you what they are – go read the column and think about it. It may make your company and it may make your career. This month we have a Book/Software Reviews column and it has a bit of traditional and emerging technologies with a book on communications engineering using GNU radio. New Products are always fun and our column this month has the latest in oscillators, small box vector network analyzers, passive networks and solid-state power amplifiers. And our Enigmas, etc. column has a solution to last month’s puzzle as well as some geometrically oriented proofs. My favorite proof is the Chinese proof of the Pythagorean Theorem and it is geometric.
As always, check out the Conference Calendar. We have more conferences than ever and one might be close to you.
