Tullio Rozzi passed away on August 7, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born in 1941 in Civitanova Marche, Italy. He received the degree of “Dottore” in Physics from the University of Pisa, in 1965, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from Leeds University, in 1968. In June 1987, he received the D.Sc. degree from the University of Bath, U.K.

From 1968 to 1978, he was a Research Scientist at the Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. In 1975, he spent a year at the Antenna Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. In 1978, he was appointed as Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Liverpool. In 1981, he became Head of the Electronics Group at the University of Bath, where he also served as Head of the School of Electrical Engineering. Since 1988, Dr. Rozzi had been a Professor and Head of the current Department of Information Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy.

In 1975, Prof. Rozzi was awarded the Microwave Prize by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (IEEE MTT-S). He was a Life Fellow of the IEEE. Prof. Rozzi was an outstanding scientist and a charismatic mentor, able to transmit scientific rigor and passion to generations of researchers and students, including many prominent current leaders of our MTT-S community.
