Biography

Tangus Koech, SMIEE, MMDS (MIT), MSc (Eng.), BEng (Hons) 

Tangus is the current Chairman of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (IEEE AP-S), Kenya Chapter. He’s a former 7-year Google & YouTube Partner Technology Manager, Sales Engineer & Technical Solutions Architect, who has worked with Google’s most strategic Partnerships in EMEA, APAC, LATAM, and North America.

At Google, Tangus was involved in pre-sales and post-sales engineering, solutions architecture design, and consultancy, from Contractual/Legal to Engineering and Product, with stakeholders up to C-Level. Some of his channel & distribution clients/partners included the biggest Telcos in EMEA, APAC, and LATAM including Vodafone Group, Orange Group, MTN Group, América Móvil, Telefónica, Etisalat, and Zain.

He is a contributing Developer to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), a former Product Manager of Gmail Chat, and the co-creator, Lead PTM, and Sales Engineer for Google Freezone – an initiative by Google to lower the data price entry points for telco subscribers in Emerging Markets.

He holds a Master of Science (MSc., Eng.) in Modern Digital & Radio Frequency Wireless Communications Engineering, and a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electronic & Communications Engineering (Hons.), both from the University of Leeds (UK). He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
