Rabia Yahya

Dr. Rabia Yahya is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Nouakchott, Mauritania and the Head of the Research Structures Management Department, specializing in Electronics, Electromagnetism, and Telecommunications. She holds a Doctor of Engineering in Applied Electronics from Tokyo University of Science and brings over a decade of combined teaching and research experience from prior appointments at that institution and at Qassim University (KSA).
Her research, which has been published in prestigious journals, including those of the IEEE and IEICE, focuses on UWB antennas and frequency-selective surfaces for advanced wireless communication systems, microwave technologies for biomedical applications, and innovative RF energy harvesting solutions. She is deeply engaged with both international and national academic communities. An active IEEE member, she serves in multiple leadership roles, including Coordinator of the IEEE MTT-S Broadening Participation Committee (BPC) Africa initiative, Counselor of the IEEE University of Nouakchott Student Branch, and Advisor for the MTT-S Student Chapter. Nationally, she contributes as the General Secretary of the Mauritanian Physical Society (MPS).
Dr. Yahya actively shapes her field by serving on the Technical Program Committees for several prominent international conferences. Her scholarly excellence has been recognized with honors such as the prestigious 2024 National Academies U.S.–Africa Frontiers Fellowship. She further supports the scientific community as a peer reviewer for leading international journals and is engaged in numerous global research collaborations. She is a multilingual scholar, fluent in Arabic, French, and English.
