Nosherwan Shoaib

Prof. Nosherwan Shoaib (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy. He served two terms as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the National Institute of Metrological Research (INRiM), Turin, and the Khalifa University of Science and Technology, United Arab Emirates (UAE). In 2016, he joined the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (SEECS), National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, where he is currently a Full Professor and the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering. He is also serving as the Director of the Anechoic Chamber and Electromagnetic Compatibility/Interference research facilities, strengthening the industry-academia linkages. He contributed to 15 patents, two books, one book-chapter, and more than 120 leading international technical journal articles, peer-reviewed conference papers, and technical reports. His current research interests include reconfigurable intelligent metasurfaces, metrology, 5G MIMO antennas, energy harvesting, machine learning, the Internet of Things (IoT), and microwave active circuits. Dr. Shoaib was a recipient of several other national and international awards. He was awarded grants worth above PKR 250 million. He has been associated with IEEE, USA, for more than 13 years. He is currently serving as the Chair of the IEEE Islamabad Section. He was the Founder and the Past Chair of Pakistan’s first ever IEEE joint Microwave Theory and Techniques, Antenna and Propagation, Electromagnetic Compatibility/Interference, and Circuits and Systems Chapter. He also served as the Chair Student Activities Committee from 2023 to 2024 and the Chair Educational Activities Committee from 2021 to 2022. He organized more than 150 events in a Lead role, including chairing two international conferences. He provided training and support to multiple other conference organizers. He is the IEEE STEM and Ethics Champion.
