Biography
Dr. Mayur Kumar Chhipa is a researcher, academician, and IEEE volunteer working in the areas of photonics, optical communications, microwave engineering, artificial intelligence, and photonic integrated circuits (PICs). He is currently serving as Head-ODeL and Head of Engineering at ISBAT University, Kampala, Uganda, where he is actively involved in teaching, research, innovation, PhD supervision and engineering education leadership. He received his PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering from K L Deemed to be University, India, with research focused on photonic crystal-based devices and integrated photonic technologies for future optical communication networks.
Dr. Chhipa has delivered numerous keynote and invited talks at international conferences, workshops, and IEEE events across Africa and Asia on topics related to photonics, AI-driven communication systems, optical networks, microwave photonics and emerging technologies. His research contributions include publications in IEEE Access, Optical Engineering, Springer, and other reputed international journals and conferences. He is an active Senior Member of IEEE, IEEE MTT-S, IEEE Photonics Society, and several international professional organizations. He is also serving as IEEE MTT-S MGA Region-8 Africa Coordinator and Vice Chair, IEEE Uganda Section. In recognition of his contributions to photonics research and education, he was named among “The Photonics 100” by Electro Optics in 2023.
