Biography

Filipe Miguel Esturrenho Barradas was born in Évora, Portugal. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electronics and telecommunication engineering from Universidade de Aveiro (UA), Aveiro, Portugal, in 2012, and the Ph.D. degree in electronics (specializing in digital predistortion for radio frequency power amplifiers) from the same University, with work jointly developed at Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT), Aveiro, Portugal, in 2017.

In 2012, he joined the Wireless Circuits – Av group at Instituto de Telecomunicações as a PhD student, and has since progressed to full researcher in 2022, being principal investigator in projects using nonlinear signal processing for applications in telecommunications. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 technical papers published in international journals and/or presented at international conferences. In 2024, the paper he co-authored was awarded the IEEE Microwave Prize

Filipe M. Barradas was one of the founders of the MTT-S Student Branch Chapter at Universidade de Aveiro, he has further served the IEEE MTT-S/APS/EDS Joint Chapter in Portugal, as Scientific Advisor. He has been member of the PAWR TPC in Radio Wireless Week since 2019 and of the European Microwave Week since 2021. He has also contributed as a reviewer for premier journals, including IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, Circuits and Systems, Communications, Vehicular Technologies; and IEEE Microwave and Wireless Technology Letters.

His research interests include linear and nonlinear RF circuits, modeling and compensation of power amplifiers, and high-efficiency power amplifier theory and design.
