Device
Holographic impedance metasurface of indium tin oxide (ITO), polyethylene glycol terephthalate (PET), and borosilicate glass
Spectrum
17-21.5 GHz
Novelty
The metasurface is optically transparent due to the selection of PET and borosilicate glass for substrate layers and ITO for the metal patch and ground layers. Optically transparent adhesives are utilized instead of thermal welding to significantly simplify fabrication.
Bandwidth is enhanced by controlling the dispersion characteristics of the cell to hold the dispersion nearly constant over frequency.
Application
Broadband orbital angular momentum wave generation for Internet of things (IoT) communication
Performance
22.5% bandwidth; >40 dB isolation.
