Device
AI-empowered, miniaturized, dual-polarized, bandpass reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) capable of external interference cancellation.
Spectrum
2.57 - 2.87 GHz
Novelty
The transmission phases of RIS are optimized offline based on a greedy strategy algorithm with artificial neural networks (ANNs) trained on measurement datasets. The surrogate model to describe the function of transmission phases of RIS and coupling of Tx and Rx ports that is produced by the ANNs in invoked in the RIS optimization process.
Application
Future 6G wireless systems with in-band full-duplex (IBFD) operation.
Performance
Isolation enhancement by AI-optimization from 15.57 dB for worst isolation to 17.46 dB for average isolation within a 200 MHz band compared to the initial state.
53.77 dB or better isolation with a metal sheet scatterer with AI optimization with 2-bit phase resolution; 54.04 dB or better isolation with a water container scatterer.
