Device
Additively manufactured circularly polarized (CP) wideband filtering transmissive metasurface (TM) with two sublayers.
Spectrum
30 GHz
Novelty
The two-layer additively manufactured metasurface has a filtering metasurface (FM) at the top, and a polarization conversion metasurface (PCM) at the bottom.
The top FM metasurface is a patch and spiral strip based filtenna–antenna (FA-A) scheme. A high-pass filtering response is introduced by a magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antenna. A pair of differential-fed L-probes and a pair of suspended π-shaped strips are constructed to generate transmission nulls at the lower and upper bands, respectively.
The intrinsic high-pass filter characteristics of a differential-fed inverted-C (DFIC) component are applied to achieve differential antiphase cancellation in the design.
Application
Wireless 5G and future mm-Wave communications systems.
Performance
31% 3-dB gain bandwidth (GBW), 48% axial ratio bandwidth (AR BW), about 1.35 selectivity (SE, 10-dB GBW / 3-dB GBW);
-46.3 dB lower stopband suppression (LB), -44.4 dB upper stopband suppression (UB);
31% aperture efficiency (AE).
