Device
4-stage dual-band, single-structure multistage cross-coupled differential-drive (MS-CCDD) rectifier in 0.18-µm CMOS technology for WPT
Spectrum
13.56 MHz (HF band), 915 MHz (UHF band)
Novelty
Multiple charging paths (MCP) and multiple coupling capacitors deliver wide dynamic range (DR) of efficient current transmission in both the HF (I >200 µA) and UHF (I >100 µA) bands.
A passive-charge adaptive biasing approach reduces pMOS’ leakage current by adaptively regulating the conduction of the rectifier’s transistor.
By modifying the dc level on the nMOS side to cover a broad input power range, the MCP structure increases the forward current.
Application
Multiband wireless power transfer and energy harvesting devices for Internet of things (IoT) and smart home applications .
Performance
40.15% peak power conversion efficiency (PCE) in the high frequency (HF) band with a power delivery of 635 µW (>200 µA at 2.55 V);
58.55% peak PCE in the ultrahigh frequency (UHF) band with a power delivery of 270 µW (>100 µA at 2.53 V);
10 dB output power dynamic range (OPDR in the HF band, 8dB OPDR in the UHF band.
