Recent Advances in Super-Regenerative Oscillator-Based Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Radar Sensors

Abstract

The authors show how recent advances in super regenerative oscillator (SRO)-based radar sensors have substantially improved the detection of vital signs and location compared with traditional Doppler radar sensors. The incorporation of metamaterial leaky wave antennas into SRO architectures has enabled highly sensitive, multitarget vital sign detection. Additionally, W-band on-chip SRO radar sensors offer compact, low-power solutions for real-time monitoring. These innovations enable robust and versatile radar systems for applications in healthcare, security, and other fields, representing a significant advancement in radar sensor technology.
