Miniaturized Microstrip Dual-Band Filters Using Dual-Mode Resonators With Flexible Frequency Ratio and Multiple Transmission Zeros

Miniaturized Microstrip Dual-Band Filters Using Dual-Mode Resonators With Flexible Frequency Ratio and Multiple Transmission Zeros

Abstract

An innovative design methodology for miniaturized microstrip dual-band filters using dual-mode stub-embedded hairpin resonators (SEHRRs) is presented in this article. The filter design approach is flexible to achieve small to large center frequency ratio requirements with multiple transmission zeros. Two band pass filter implementations with significantly different center frequency and frequency ratio requirements are designed and fabricated, and simulated and measured performance is evaluated for each. Performance is compared to that of other reported filters and determined to be generally superior for filter size, return loss and middle band / upper stopband rejection.
