About the journal
The December issue of the IEEE Microwave Magazine is out! This issue celebrates Radio & Wireless Week – and this being 2020 it will be a virtual conference. But this issue is packed. We have five feature articles, seven columns about the conference and nine regular columns. The RWW features have a great variety. We have two articles relating to power amplifiers via digital predistortion and digital amplifiers. One feature teaches us how to avoid isolators by using reflectionless bandpass filters. Another article teaches us about 3D printed electronics for 5G and IoT. And a final article shows us the future of receivers as multifunction, multiband and multimode.
Before you peruse the regular columns check out the Radio & Wireless Week columns. Here you will get a Welcome message from the conference chairs as well as a technical program overview from the technical chair. Many things happen during RWW so there are also columns on SiRF, ARFTG, workshops, the IoT Summit and the RWW mini-special issue of the MTT Transactions.
And don’t forget the regular columns. The Editor’s Desk will give you an overview of the issue. And our Guest Editor’s column will give you the background on our features. Our President’s Column will give you a tour of what has been accomplished during these difficult times. New conferences, new journals and new Chapters, as well as the election of Dr. Rashaunda Henderson as our MTT-S 2021 President-Elect have all happened. As usual, we have thought provoking columns like our MicroBusiness and Enigmas. MicroBusiness focuses on communication while our Enigmas focuses on Q and the Poincare metric. Another person solving problems is our Ombudsman Officer. Read his column and find out about all the ways he helps our members. Sadly we have another In Memoriam column, this time on Herman Statz. Please read about all he accomplished in laser gyros and semiconductors. And we also have a book review for you, this one being a tour of 5G.
There is a lot to enjoy in this issue – and we all need a break from bad news this year!. As always, check out the Conference Calendar.
