This workshop is a half-day forum for the latest developments in reconfigurable antennas and sensors technologies made possible by groundbreaking advances in materials science and engineering. Reconfigurability, frequency agility, and other innovative capabilities and enhanced performance have become possible in recent years with the remarkable progress made in control materals. Among the specific technological advances covered in this workshop are the miniaturization of satellite communication and cellular systems made possible by low-loss temperature-compensated microwave materials with enhanced dielectric constants, polarization control, size reduction, and beam scanning capabilities afforded by innovative magnetic materials, ultra-fast metal-insulator transitions in phase change materials for future modulators and other communication components, and superconducting quantum arrays applied to antennas and low noise amplifiers with highly linear response.
