Biography

Yasuaki Monnai received the B.E. degree in mathematical engineering and information physics and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in information physics and computing from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 2008, 2010, and 2013, respectively. From 2010 to 2012, he was a Visiting Scholar with the University of Kassel and the Philipps University of Marburg, Germany. From 2013 to 2015, he was a Project Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo. From 2015 to 2021, he was an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor with Keio University, Japan. Since 2021, he has been an Associate Professor with the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo, where he was selected as an Excellent Young Researcher in 2021.

 

His research has involved terahertz plasmonic lenses, leaky-wave antennas, integrated radar systems, and terahertz-induced ultrasound, with a focus on interfacing humans and machines. He is a recipient of the MEXT Young Scientists’ Prize (2023) and the Best Teaching Award from the University of Tokyo (2024).
