Biography

José Raúl Loo-Yau was born in Panama City, Panama. He received the B.S. degree in electronics and communications engineering from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG), Mexico, in 1998, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electronics and telecommunications (specializing in high-frequency electronics) from the Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada (CICESE), Mexico, in 2000 and 2006, respectively.

In 2007, he joined the Electronic Design Group at the Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Cinvestav), Guadalajara Unit, where he is currently the Head of the Electronic Design Group. Under his leadership, his team has twice secured a top-three podium finish in the High-Efficiency Power Amplifier Student Design Competition at the IEEE/MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS). He has authored or co-authored more than 50 technical papers published in international journals and presented at conferences.

Dr. Loo-Yau was a founding member of the IEEE MTT-S Guadalajara Chapter (MTT-17), where he served as interim Chair.
