Biography
Jorge A. Ruiz-Cruz (A’11–M’11–SM’11) received the Ingeniero de Telecomunicación and the PhD degrees from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain, in 1999 and 2005, respectively. Before starting the PhD program, he was with the company RYMSA (2000). After finishing his PhD, he worked as Research Associate with the University of Maryland. Then, he joined Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in 2006, where he became Associate Professor in 2009 and Full Professor in 2021. In 2023 he joined the UPM, as a Full Professor with the Department of Signals, Systems and Radiocommunications.
He has participated in more than 50 projects involving waveguide devices and antenna feeders. He is co-author of more than 150 international papers in journals and conference proceedings. He has visited the Politecnico di Milano, Italy (2002), the University of Maryland at College Park, USA (several stays from 2003 to 2008), the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland (2007), and the University of Waterloo, Canada (several stays from 2009 to 2011). His PhD thesis received an award from Telefónica Foundation-COIT (Spanish college for telecommunication engineers) for his doctoral thesis and the extraordinary award from UPM.
His current research interests include the computer-aided design of microwave passive devices and circuits (filters, multiplexers, couplers, polarizers, orthomodes, etc).
