Biography

Chinmoy Saha (MIEEE’06–SMIEEE’15, SM URSI) received his B.Tech, M.Tech. and PhD degrees in Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India in 2002, 2005, and 2012 respectively. He is the current chair of the IEEE MTT-S SIGHT committee and region-10 (Asia and Pacific) coordinator of IEEE MTT-S since 2023. He is currently working as a full Professor in the Department of Avionics, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Department of Space, Government of India.  He has visited several International Universities of repute and has strong research collaboration with several International Universities in North America and Europe. He visited the Royal Military College of Canada and Queens University, Canada as a visiting professor/post-doctoral fellow in 2015 and 2017-2018. He is a senior Member of the IEEE, a senior member of the International Union of Radio Science, and a Fellow of IETE. He served as the Rregion-10 coordinator of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society during 2021-2022. He founded the IEEE MTT-S Kerala chapter in 2019 and served as the chairman of the chapter during 2019-2021. He also served as the Chairman of the Antennas and Propagation Chapter of IEEE Kerala section during 2018-2019. Dr. Saha was also involved as the Chairman of Conference Activity board of IEEE Kerala Section during 2022-2023. He is the founder and current chair of the IEEE EMC Society Kerala chapter. Recently, in September 2024, Dr. Saha has founded the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Society Chapter of IEEE Kerala section in which he is the current chai. Dr. Saha has received several prestigious awards which includes National Award “AICTE Visvesvaraya Best Teacher Award 2021” received from the Union Education Minister, Government of India, “IETE Prof. SN Mitra Memorial Award 2021”,   “Outstanding Teacher Award” in 2019 from the Department of Avionics, IIST, “National Scholarship from Ministry of Human Resource Development” from Government of India, “Outstanding Contribution Award from the AP-MTT Kolkata chapter, “Best Contribution Award for Notable Services and Significant Contributions towards the Advancements of IEEE and the Engineering Profession” from IEEE Kolkata Section and several best paper awards in various International conferences. His current research interest includes Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) and Energy Harvesting, Microwave Circuits, Metamaterial/metasurface & applications, reconfigurable and multi-functional antennas for modern wireless applications, mm-wave THz systems, and antennas and components for space applications. He has more than two hundred ten publications in international journals and conference proceedings including 50 journal papers. Prof. Saha has authored three books with Cambridge University Press, UK and Taylor and Francis, USA. He is on the board of reviewers of several international journals of repute including IEEE Transaction on Microwave Theory and Techniques, IEEE Transaction on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters (IEEE AWPL), IET Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation, Electronic Letters, Nature Scientific Reports etc. He is an associate editor in Microwave magazine and IEEE Access. He served as the guest editor-in-chief for a special issue of the International Journal of RF and Microwave Computer-Aided Engineering during 2018-2019 and currently working as editor-in-chief for an ongoing special issue of EPJ Applied Metamaterials.
