On Friday, October 9, 2015, and Saturday, October 10, 2015, at the Library of Oradea University held an event organized by the School of Engineering Sciences doctoralǎ. World-renowned specialists like Mr. Prof.univ.Dr.ing.habil.Dr.h.c.mult. Ulrich L. Rohde, the professor at the University of Oradea, the Universiăţii Technical Cottbus, Germany, the University of Florida and chairman of the firm Synergy Microwave, New Jersey and Associate Professor at the University of Oradea dr.ing.habil. Ajay K. Poddar, a professor at the Technical University of Munich, Germany and the Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Bombay, India, and a scientific director of the firm Synergy Microwave were invited by the rector of the University of Oradea to participate in this event.

Dr. Ajay Poddar (SIGHT Committee from IEEE MTT/AP Society) reported on SIGHT activity about heartbeat recorder of buried human beings using the microwave and wireless technology, a wearable noninvasive medical device for blood sugar measurement, and seismic insensitive structure, HAM radio etc. at Oradea University, Romania on Oct 10, 2015. The joint collaboration work between Synergy Microwave and Oradea University is to support Ph.D. students towards development low-cost sensors using metamaterial Mobius technology for determining the location of buried persons at the time of emergency. This awareness took the motive of MTT-S one step closer towards achieving the goal of “Projects with a Humanitarian Purpose”.

Professor Rohde presented interesting technical lectures on the following topics: “Global Markets”, “Global Technology” and “Global Students” for general awareness for Ph.D. students and master faculty. Dr. Ajay Poddar lectured on topics related to “Metamaterials.” The interest and response showed by these students were overwhelming and curiosity resulted in a number of questions.

By the end, the two scientists had meetings and discussions with the ERASMUS MUNDUS program Ph.D. from the School of Engineering Sciences doctoralǎ. The Director of the Doctoral School of Engineering Sciences prof.univ.dr.ing.habil. Tiberiu Vesselenyi held talks with the two specialists on future collaboration and partnership in science. At the end of the meeting, the rector expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries who accepted the invitation and delivered captivating lectures.
