Phase Imaging Through Scattering Media Based on a THz Airy Beam
Abstract
This article demonstrates the potential for exceptional imaging capabilities with THz Airy beam phase imaging (ABPI) systems in complicated scattering environments. Airy beams generated with dielectric lenses from 190 to 200 GHz demonstrated accurate imaging of dielectric samples. The ABPI system offered enhanced resolution, increased penetration depth and improved contrast performance compared to amplitude imaging Airy beam techniques. The phase imaging system was also more successful to estimate dielectric sample thickness and to accurately image samples with scattering media in the propagation path. ABPI applications potentially include 3D nondestructive biomedical imaging, food inspection and security screening.
