TC Funding Support

The funding will be provided based on competition. The requests can be made online by filling in the application form below. The form will then be routed for approvals. The applicant should notify the TC chair about the application to receive endorsement. An approval email will be sent to confirm the endorsement.

The decision will be made based on the quality of the proposals. The proposed activities must be new and have a significant impact on our members. These funds are not intended for activities already covered by existing funding or programs.

Examples of activities include:

  • Short courses or training programs for attracting industrial memberships – the proposal needs to address the target audience profile.
  • Workshops or webinars for attracting members from outside MTT-S – the proposal needs to address whether the attendees are MTT-S members or IEEE members.
  • High-impact talks promoting emerging microwave technologies – keynote or plenary presentations at well-recognized conferences.
  • Student design competitions outside IMS – the fund may be used for awards, certificates, parts, and components.
  • Technical committee recruiting activities at MTT-S events (e.g., panel session registration, promotional materials, booth materials) – the proposal should address why recruiting is important for the TC.
  • Development of new TC activities, such as introducing emerging technologies into MTT-S – the proposal should highlight the goals and importance of the activity.

The normal support limit is US$2,000 for each event, and each TC may request a maximum of US$4,000 per year. Co-sponsorship from other sources is strongly encouraged, and events sponsored by multiple TCs may request a larger amount.

Requests for individual travel expenses or individual honoraria will not be funded.

Applicants must identify how the funds will be transferred. For conference-related activities, a Concentration Banking (CB) account may be required. In regions where CB accounts are not allowed, a conference banking account must be used. For chapter-based activities, a chapter CB account or chapter bank account may be used. IEEE policy does not allow funds to be transferred to an individual’s bank account.

The applicant is required to submit a one-page final report to the TCFDC Coordinator (kangkai@uestc.edu.cn).

The call is open only for 2026 funding. Please note that fund transfers from MTT-S to chapters, sections, or conferences may take more than eight weeks. If the event is scheduled near the end of the year, applicants are strongly encouraged to apply before October.

If you have any questions, please contact TCFDC Chair Prof. J.-C. Chiao (chiao@ieee.org).
