Biography

Fábio Passos received the Ph.D. degree in Electronics Engineering from the Universidad de Sevilla, Seville, Spain, in 2018, conducting research at the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Sevilla (IMSE-CNM). He has undertaken research stays at several leading academic and industrial institutions, including IMEC and Analog Devices, and has held industry positions as an Analog Design Engineer at Renesas and SiliconGate.

He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and a Senior Researcher at the Nanoelectronic Circuits and Systems Group of INESC-ID, Lisbon, Portugal. He was the recipient of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship, several Best Paper Awards, and the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the European Design and Automation Association (EDAA) in 2019—recognizing the best Ph.D. thesis worldwide in design automation.

He has participated in numerous national and international research projects and has served as Principal Investigator (PI) for several of them. He is an active member of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S) Design Automation Technical Committee (TC-2) and the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CAS) Power and Energy Circuits and Systems Technical Committee (PECAS).

His current research interests include IC design and AI/ML-assisted design methodologies, and automation frameworks for analog, RF, and mixed-signal circuits.
