Fostering Innovation and Community: A Review of the Latest Activities of the IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter
The IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Joint Chapter was originally established in 1988 as a combined initiative of the Antennas and Propagation (AP), Electron Devices (ED), Circuits and Systems (CAS), and the then-termed Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) Societies. The founding members came primarily from a dynamic community of researchers and professionals active in microwave and RF electronics, RF circuit theory, and antenna engineering, with strong ties to both academia and industry.
From the very beginning, the Chapter placed a clear emphasis on electromagnetics (EMs), RF, and microwave electronics—both active and passive components—which naturally positioned the AP, MTT, and ED Societies at the core of its technical focus. In 2001–2002, in response to the evolving technical interests of its members, a structural reorganization was carried out, leading to the separation of the CAS and the formation of the present-day AP/ED/MTT North Italy Joint Chapter.
