Mini-Special Issue on RFIC 2021

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques
Mini-Special Issue on
The 2021 IEEE Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium (RFIC 2021)

The IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques (IEEE T-MTT) will publish a Mini-Special Issue devoted to original material presented at the 2021 IEEE RFIC Symposium (RFIC 2021). Authors of all papers presented at the IEEE RFIC 2021 are invited to submit an expanded version of their papers to the Mini-Special Issue.

In order to parallelize editor and author activities, authors who plan to submit to the special issue should notify the Guest Editor by September 19th, 2021. If authors decide to participate after this September 19th deadline, please contact the Guest Editor immediately. The deadline for paper submission is December 3rd, 2021.

The technical content of the expanded version is expected to include more in-depth analyses and/or new results beyond what is reported in the RFIC 2021 paper. It may also take advantage of the discussions generated at the RFIC 2021, which may lead to different/additional results or interpretations (please acknowledge individuals in such case).

As with regular T-MTT submissions, papers for this Mini-Special Issue are to be submitted through the ScholarOne Manuscripts website at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tmtt-ieee. Submitted papers will be reviewed by the T-MTT Editorial Board in the same manner as all other regular submissions to the T-MTT.

Manuscripts must follow the T-MTT Word or LaTex templates, as well as all the other guidelines found at https://www.mtt.org/author-information-transactions, to be accepted into the peer review process.

In particular, note the requirement of guideline #5:
“You must reference your own work, especially recent journal/conference publications. Discuss your related publications in the introduction and distinguish the new results you present in your current manuscript from those found in your previous publications. While there is not a specific criterion that must be met, such as 60% new technical material, the reviewers are asked to determine if the paper provides “sufficient new technical material to justify a new paper” when compared to all previously published papers. This standard must be met by all papers, including papers that are submitted to conference special issues. Note that longer introductions and lists of references do not qualify as “technical material.” It is acceptable to repeat some results to properly explain the concept and to create a self-contained paper for the reader, but this should be done only when necessary. Please attach pdf files of the previous papers.”

Because of the time required for a second review cycle, only papers that are accepted as is or with minor revisions are guaranteed to be published in the Mini-Special Issue, if a sufficient number of papers has been accepted. Papers requiring a major revision are not guaranteed to be published in the Mini-Special Issue, but may be published in a subsequent regular issue if and when accepted for publication.

You must include with your submission (as a single PDF file) both the PDF of the original RFIC 2021 paper and a letter explicitly highlighting the additional contributions of the T-MTT paper relative to the original RFIC 2021 paper.

Additional instructions for paper submission:
(1) In the pull-down menu for “Manuscript Type”, please select “2021 RFIC Mini-Special Issue”.
(2) The conference paper should be included with the submission as well.
(3) Discuss the expansion over the RFIC paper in the Introduction (very important).
(4) The following note should be added to the footnote on the first page of the paper: “This paper is an expanded version from the 2021 IEEE RFIC Symposium, Atlanta, GA, USA, June 7-9, 2021.”

We look forward to seeing your submitted manuscript and will be glad to answer any question that you may have regarding this publication opportunity.
