MTT-S SPEAKERS BUREAU

Background

The MTT Society serves a wide range of technologies throughout the RF, Microwave, Millimeter- Wave, and Submillimeter-Wave areas. Some technical areas are mature while others are just emerging. Many of the emerging areas such as Wireless Communication are becoming important segments of the overall Microwave Industry.  The “Technical Committees” within the MTT-Society have been organized into 23 working committees. The 23 committees have “Chairs” who report on technical activities at three (3) regularly-scheduled TCC meetings annually.

Speakers Bureau Concept

Throughout the world, MTT-S Chapters serve an important function by having meetings that feature technical speakers. Sometimes it is difficult to obtain outstanding speakers due to time and travel-expense issues. Part of this problem is addressed through the “Distinguished Microwave Lecturer” (DML) program, which has been set up by the MTT-S ADCOM.  The Technical Committee’s Speakers Bureau complements the DML program. The Speakers Bureau can provide technical speakers in the 23 technical areas that are represented. A second goal of the Speakers Bureau is to provide communications between Chapter and Technical Committees, to bring in new blood from the Chapters and provide improved input to the MTT-S ADCOM so that it may better serve all MTT-S members.

The Speakers Bureau has identified highly-qualified technical speakers who have agreed to make time available to address local MTT-S Chapters. Travel expense funds (while limited – up to $2000 per speaker/year) are being provided.  Speakers have been identified in the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia.  Some coordination of a Speaker’s travel with other business travel is desirable. For example, a speaker from Europe might talk to several US Chapters while in the US on other business. Most of the Technical Committees have identified speakers, and have provided short abstracts of their presentations. The other Technical Committee Chairs have agreed to provide speakers or to come to the Chapter Meeting themselves as Speakers.

Chapter representatives should contact Speakers directly from the Listing on this Web Site.  Alternately, Chapters may contact the TCC Administrator for assistance.
